Olympians Weyant, Litherland and Madden Win on Day 3 of TYR Pro Championships

The 2023 TYR Pro Championships rolled into the penultimate day of competition in Irvine, California with the 400m individual medley, 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and the100m backstroke.
Olympic silver medalists Emma Weyant (Sarasota, Fla./Gator Swim Club) and Jay Litherland (Alpharetta, Ga./Sun Devil Swimming) won the women’s and men’s 400m individual medley events by decisive victories – Weyant by more than four seconds ahead of second-place Ella Ramsay of Australia on the women’s side, and Litherland by nearly five seconds on the men’s side ahead of second-place Landon Driggers (Gilbert, Ariz./Tennessee Aquatics). Maddie Waggoner (Moorestown, N.J./Jersey Wahoos) got third in the women’s event in a time of 4:48.07 and William Petric of Australia got third on the men’s side in 4:17.28.
National Team member Kelly Pash (Carmel, Ind./Longhorn Aquatics) won the women’s 100m butterfly by the slimmest of margins in 57.85. Lily Price of Australia was just .01 second behind for second and Emma Sticklen (Katy, Texas/Longhorn Aquatics) finished third in 58.17.
Aiden Hayes (Norman, Okla./Wolfpack Elite) won the men’s 100m butterfly in 51.24. Australia’s Jesse Coleman finished second in 51.66 and Jonathan Kulow (Lander, Wyo./Sun Devil Swimming) was third in 52.35.
Paige Madden (Mobile, Ala./New York Athletic Club) picked up her third win of the meet with her finish in the women’s 200m freestyle in 1:57.41. National Junior Team member Justina Kozan (Brea, Calif./Trojan Swim Club) finished second in 1:58.92 and Gabby DeLoof (Grosse Pointe, Mich./New York Athletic Club) was third in 1:59.51.
Australians Maximillian Giuliani and Mikayla Smith won the men’s 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke events respectively.
National Team members Jake Foster (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mason Manta Rays), Isabelle Stadden (Blaine, Minn./California Aquatics) and Jack Aikins (Atlanta, Ga./Swim Atlanta) won the final three events of the night: The men’s 100m breaststroke, and the women’s and men’s 100m backstroke respectively.

All sessions will be streamed on www.usaswimming.org/watch. Prelims begin daily at 9 a.m. PT while finals will be at 5 p.m. PT.
The TYR Pro Championships conclude tomorrow at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center and are the culmination of the annual TYR Pro Swim Series.
