Participants Named to 2023 Women Coaches in Governance Program

Congratulations to the 52 participants selected for the 2023 Women Coaches in Governance (WCIG) program. Developed by women coach leaders in our sport, the WCIG program seeks to identify, educate, support, and mentor women coaches who wish to be more involved in organizational governance. “I am thrilled to be part of a program aimed at educating women coaches in the governance aspect of swimming,” Fresno Dolphins Swim Team head age group coach Tanya Lane said. “We need this representation at the LSC level, and I’m honored to be mentored by some of the top women leaders in swimming on how to make a difference in a sport that means so much to me.”
Starting Tuesday, September 12, up-and-coming women leaders will start their 10-week fellowship on a wide range of topics to assist in their professional development. Each hour-long session will include an interactive panel and a governance dialogue. In addition to the fellowship opportunity, participants are encouraged to attend the 2024 USA Swimming Workshop presented by LiveBarn.
Congratulations to all the coaches selected for the WCIG program. Thank you to leaders Allison Beebe, Shelly Rawding, Cathy Sheafor, Mary Liston, Olga Espinosa, Julie Bachman and USA Swimming Team Services Senior Advisor Beth Winkowski for creating this opportunity for women coaches.
