2023 Golden Goggles Male Athlete


The 2023 Golden Goggle Awards are set to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 19, 2023. With the voting deadline of October 15 quickly approaching, here is the breakdown of the nominees for this year's Male Athlete of the Year award:

Ryan Murphy

As one of the men’s captains for the U.S. team in Fukuoka, Murphy collected gold in the 100m backstroke and leading off the men’s 4x100m medley relay, silver in the 200m backstroke, and bronze in the mixed 4x100m medley relay. His five medals were tied for the most by an American male at the meet.

 

Bobby Finke

Finke won silver in the 1500m freestyle and bronze in the 800m freestyle, breaking the previous American records in both events.

 

Jack Alexy

Alexy made a splash in his international debut, tying Murphy as the most decorated American male at the meet with five medals – gold in the 4x100m medley relay, silver in the 50m, 100m free and mixed 4x100m medley relay, and bronze in the 4x100m free relay.

 

Carson Foster

Foster captured individual silver in the 400m individual medley in a time of 4:06.56, giving him his second consecutive world championships medal in the event. He also split a 1:44.49 en route to silver in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay.
