The 2023 Golden Goggle Awards are set to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 19, 2023. With the voting deadline of October 15 quickly approaching, here is the breakdown of the nominees for this year's Female Athlete of the Year award:

Katie Ledecky

Ledecky picked up her fifth-consecutive world championship title in the 1500m freestyle and her sixth-consecutive title in the 800m freestyle. These wins also earned her the distinction of the first swimmer to win five titles in two different events.

Kate Douglass

Douglass tied for the most medals (six total - two gold, three silver and one bronze) by a female swimmer at these world championships. She also claimed individual gold in the women’s 200m individual medley.

Regan Smith

Smith broke the American record in the women’s 50m backstroke while in Japan with a time of 27.10 to win the silver medal. She also became one of four American women to ever medal in four individual events at a world championship, joining the likes of Katie Ledecky (2x), Shirley Babashoff and Tracy Caulkins.

Katie Grimes

At just 17 years old, Katie Grimes became the first American to punch her ticket to Paris with her bronze-medal finish in the women’s 10k event. Two weeks later, she went on to claim her second medal, but this time a silver medal in the pool in the women’s 400m individual medley.
