2023 Golden Goggles at a Glance: Fran Crippen Open Water Swimmer of the Year

The 2023 Golden Goggle Awards are set to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 19, 2023. With the voting deadline of October 15 quickly approaching, here is the breakdown of the nominees for this year's Fran Crippen Open Water Swimmer of the Year award:
Mariah DeniganWith an eighth-place finish in the Open Water World Championships 10k, Denigan qualified to swim the event again at the 2024 Open Water World Championships, where she’ll have a chance to qualify for Paris. On top of her swim in Fukuoka, she represented the U.S. this year at the Open Water Swimming World Cup in Italy, where she finished sixth in the 10k and fourth as part of the mixed relay. |

Katie GrimesWith her bronze-medal finish in the Open Water World Championships 10k, Grimes punched her ticket to the Paris Olympics, becoming just the fourth American woman to ever qualify for the Olympics in open water. She also won U.S. national titles in the 5k and 10k this year. |
