Puskovitch on his swim: “I think, like a lot of people in this field, this was my first river 10k. It was definitely unlike anything else I’ve ever competed in. That current is like no other – I’ve never experienced anything like that, especially when we were going around those turns on the short stretches and had a wall of water coming at you from the side. I’m very proud of my tactical approach to the race. I think that I was making up a lot of ground on some areas that my competitors were kind of lacking. That’s why I have no regrets about my performance today, because me and my coaches on the staff talked extensively about the race plan, about the conditions of the race and the best way to adapt to them, and I stuck to that plan and I think it really paid off in my ability to fight to the last stroke.”
Today’s 10k marked the final swimming event of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Across pool and open water events, the U.S. leaves France with eight gold, 13 silver, and seven bronze medals. To see the medal tables, click here for pool events and here for open water.
