USA Swimming Athletes Build Momentum on Day Two of the 2025 World Aquatics Championships Open Water

The second day of competition at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships Open Water saw USA Swimming athletes continue to build momentum in the 5-kilometer event, following a full slate of action after the 10K on the first day. The team put forth strong efforts across the board as conditions challenged swimmers along the course.
Mariah Denigan (Walton, Ky./Indiana Swim Club) led the U.S. women in the 5K, clocking 1:04:08.60 to finish thirteenth, backed by Brinkleigh Hansen (Saint Petersburg, Fla./Saint Petersburg Aquatics) in twenty-second place (1:05:00.60).
On the men’s side, Dylan Gravley (Las Vegas, Nev./Sun Devil Swimming) went 58:15.90 to place seventeenth, and Ivan Puskovitch (West Chester, Pa./ TSM Aquatics) followed closely to place twentieth (1:00:26.30).

Open water competition continues through Sunday, July 20 at the Palawan at Sentosa. Tomorrow’s action includes the women’s and men’s 3k Knockout Sprint. The women’s race begins at 8 a.m. Singapore standard time/Friday, July 18 at 8 p.m. ET and the men’s race is set to start at 10 a.m. Singapore standard time/Friday, July 18 at 10 p.m. ET.
