Three Additional Interactive Coaching Mini Courses Added to USA Swimming University
To continue supporting coaches throughout “Thank You Coach Month”, USA Swimming University is releasing three additional coaching mini courses (formerly called Network Webinar Courses), bringing the total to 28 free courses members can use.
All free coaching mini courses are available after logging in to USA Swimming University and are approximately an hour in length.
What are the new courses and topics?
10&U Network:
- Leadership Development: Commonwealth Swimming coaches Chris Sheppard and Ellen Caruso share how so many of their former age-group swimmers become captains of their collegiate swim teams. This course covers youth-run retreats, mentor groups, athlete intervention, and peer-to-peer coaching.
Senior Network:
- Enhancing Psychological Skills: Emily Klueh, Manager of Psychological Services at USA Swimming, explains how levels of arousal impact athletic performance and how self-talk shapes an athlete’s mindset. Coaches will gain insight into emotional regulation, the distinction between disappointment and devastation, and their influence on an athlete’s emotional climate. The course also covers practical tools such as the 90-second rule for post-race processing and strategies to help swimmers break out of negative thought loops.
Club Business Network:
- Operating a Swim Lesson Program: Owning and operating a swim lesson program is one of the most effective ways to generate sustainable revenue. In this webinar course, Mike Koleber and Nitro Swimming give participants a behind-the-scenes look at the strategies that have fueled their success, offering insights and actionable steps to help programs increase revenue in their own communities.
