COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Swimming, the National Governing Body of the sport of swimming in the United States, today released its roster for the 2022 FINA World Championships (25m), which takes place December 13-18 at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Melbourne, Australia.  

The roster features 16 Olympians, including Ryan Murphy (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida/California Aquatics), Torri Huske (Arlington, Virginia/Stanford University), Michael Andrew (Encinitas, California/MA Swim Academy), Hali Flickinger (York, Pennsylvania/Sun Devil Swimming), Nic Fink (Morristown, New Jersey/Metro Atlantic Aquatic Club) and Rhyan White (Herriman, Utah/University of Alabama/WFFM), among others.  

Multiple reigning short course world champions will be representing the U.S. again, including Fink, White and Shaine Casas (McAllen, Texas/Longhorn Aquatics). Last year’s U.S. roster led the medal table with nine gold, nine silver and 12 bronze for 30 total medals. 

“We’re excited to take this group to Australia and see them compete,” USA Swimming National Team Managing Director Lindsay Mintenko said. “These athletes had terrific seasons and we’re looking forward to seeing how they perform in a short-course setting on such a large stage. This will be a great opportunity to close out the calendar year strong and turn our focus to 2023 and beyond.” 

Making their senior-level debuts in a FINA international competition will be David Curtiss (Yardley, Pennsylvania/NC State University), David Johnston (Dallas, Texas/University of Texas), Jake Foster (Cincinnati, Ohio/University of Texas/Mason Manta Rays), Erin Gemmell (Potomac, Maryland/Nation’s Capital Swim Club) and Jillian Cox (Cedar Park, Texas/University of Texas). 

This year’s team will be led by head coach Braden Holloway (NC State) and assistant coaches Bruce Gemmell (Nation’s Capital Swim Club), Whitney Hite (University of Florida), Ashley Jahn (University of Tennessee) and Eddie Reese (Longhorn Aquatics).
